A SAD DAY FOR SA OLYMPIC HOPES

"Paul Hart and Harry will not compete at the Olympics."

It is with very heavy hearts and a sense of overwhelming absurdity that we heard that our Vuma Champion eventers Paul Hart and Heartbreak Hill will now not compete in the three phase eventing, starting on Saturday, at the 2012 London Olympics.

An attempt by Alex Peternell to reverse the decision to have the established team of Paul and Harry represent South Africa, in favour of himself and a newer horse has resulted in SASCOC withdrawing the single entry for a South African rider.

This is particularly disappointing when one looks at the ethics of the Olympics and the fact that, not only do we lose out on showcasing a South African Thoroughbred and SA based rider to the world... we now have no representation at all!

A very sorry state of affairs and the Vuma team's thoughts and best wishes are with Paul and Harry!

THE TROUBLE WITH RESOLUTIONS!

Healthy Horse

Happy New Year!

2012 has already kicked off at a cracking pace...

The trouble with New Year's resolutions is that by the time one has made them and thought about implementing them, the year is already ticking along into February and onwards.

Some people don't belive that the new year is any different to the old, yet the difference of that second hand on the big clock ticking away the old year and heralding in the new has a pshycologically refreshing benefit for most of us.

It allows some wiping of the slates to allow us to start anew, whether within our physical or mental selves, work and ambitions, aspirations and goals. Whatever we are looking to change or improve, the new year certainly provides a renewed opportunity to focus on those things.

2012 has already kicked off at a cracking pace, particularly for Justin Snaith and the connections of Gimmethegreenlight who won the L'Ormarins Queen's Plate in a very exciting race. Our congratulations to all.

This month also sees the running of the J&B Met and the CTS Cape Premier Yearling Sale to be held for two days before, on the 26th and 27th January. We wish all our Vuma customers the very best as they show off their horses to the world.

This year will also see a number of South African riders competing at the London Olympics and we look forward to watching their progress!

Speaking of refreshing; we have refreshed our bags, to a shiny, recyclable BOPP version. While keeping your feed fresher, they are very striking and hard to miss, so keep an eye out for the green and gold, as you will see them coming into your feed store.

To all our Vuma clients, we wish you the most successful and rewarding year ahead, knowing that Vuma will be there when it matters most.

Barroca D'alva
Portugal

Vuma Champions Heartbreak Hill and Paul Hart, achieved their goal of qualifying for the 2012 Olympics, this past weekend! Competing in the three star event at Barroca D'alva in Portugal.

The daunting Cross country course was 3626 metres long with a total of 24 jumps. Paul was very positive, Harry went superbly and they were clear in their jumping. Unfortunately, a small error incurred them a few time faults.

Only 30 of the original 48 entries made it through to the show-jumping on Sunday. Unfortunately, Paul and Harry had two poles down but have qualified for the Olympics and earned valuable points for their international ranking.

The Vuma Team wish Paul and Harry every success in their European quest and we will be watching every step as they fly the South African flag!

You can follow their progress on Facebook :
