THEY SPROUT WINGS, CHINA, LIKE A JET PLANE

BACK ON TRACK

There were some stirring performances at Scottsville's "Festival of Speed" on Saturday.
Even a few surprises.

What wasn't surprising though, was the outcome of the Group Ones. Not to us, at any rate.
And not to those whose horses know the taste of Africa's finest horsefeed.

As we've so often said, when the chips are down and the questions are being asked,
Vuma won't let you down.

Just ask Sean Tarry, Dennis Drier and Lucky Houdalakis.

CHAMPION'S DAY
TURFFONTEIN, 1 MAY 2010

Despite the grey skies and soggy conditions that Johannesburg has been experiencing, Saturday’s Champions Day still brought us some sunshine!

Vuma was delighted and proud to shout home Sean Tarry’s Regal Ransom in the Grade 1 Champions Challenge as well as Captain’s Gal in the Camellia Stakes.

Earlier that day the Fillies Nursery Stakes was won by Louis Goosen with a daughter of resident Summerhill sire Way West, Waywest Goddess.

To end the graded races on a Vuma and Summerhill note, the Dominic Zaki-trained Winning Leap (Labeeb x Summersault) showed his stamina by winning the 3200m Gold Bowl.

Congratulations are also due to Mike de Kock who celebrated his 2000th career win by winning the SA Derby with Irish Flame.

Congratulations to all the connections – we love to feed your Champions!

SEAN TARRY : IS THIS MAN HOT, OR WHAT?

sean tarry

SEAN TARRY
"THIS MAN KNOW HIS HORSES"

It wasn’t necessary to display the photo of this fellow. He’s known across the country, and in the past few months, we’ve all got to know him a whole lot better.

Turn on Channel 232, and invariably, there he is. But nobody gets there if he’s not inherently talented. If he’s not singularly dedicated, and if he doesn’t know his horses.

This man, as much as any man, knows his horses. And he knows what’s
good for them.

At the ‘Big T’ on Saturday, we’ll be there, again, especially at the 400. When the sticks come out and they’re calling for the reserves, Vuma’s legendary ‘turbo-booster’ will be firing up.

WE WON’T LET YOU DOWN.

A BLOOMING BATTLE

It was a Battle Royale at the finish of the Grade 3 Jacaranda Handicap, at Turffontein, with Queen's Bay and Kiribati fighting it out to the line. Queens Bay got up to win under Anthony Delpech for the Michael Azzie team and owner, Mrs Oppenheimer. From a Vuma perspective, it was once again a case of being there when it mattered most and with the first four past the post, one has to agree – it is the Choice of Champions!

Position Number Horse Trainer
1ST 3 QUEEN'S BAY Michael Azzie
2ND 2 KIRIBATI Sean Tarry
3RD 6 CANDY SINGER Mike de Kock
4TH 4 NIGHT RITUAL Sean Tarry

Congratulations to all the connections – we love to feed your Champions.

SANSUI SUMMER CUP DAY 2009

For some years now, Vuma-fed horses have dominated virtually every major meeting at the Spring and Autumn festivals on the Highveld, as well as the KZN winter season. Saturday was no exception, where the ones that mattered most were the Sansui Summer Cup (Gr.1), the Vodacom Dingaans (Gr.2) and the GommaGomma Fillies Mile (Gr.3). Vuma was there when it mattered most, the murderous last 400 metres of the Turffontein straight.

GommaGomma Fillies Mile (Gr.3)

1st Sidera for Mike de Kock
2nd Generous Anna for Charles Laird
4th Fisani for Mike de Kock

Vodacom Dingaans (Gr.2)

1st Curved Ball for Charles Laird
2nd Galileo’s Galaxy for Charles Laird
4th Fort Petersburg for Dominic Zaki

Sansui Summer Cup (Gr.1)

Vuma salutes all the connections... we love to feed your Champions.
